The latest offering to be launched by Eurosoft Systems Ltd (ESL) is Content Demon, a hosted content management service that allows users to access, edit and update their web site content online, whilst leaving the hosting of the service to ESL.
Central to Content Demon is its ease of use. The system is browser-based and allows both presentation and web site content to be managed quickly and easily. It is also simple to set up, so that customers can adapt their existing web site to Content Demon themselves, or with the help of ESL. Because Content Demon is charged on a ‘per page per month’ basis, it is ideal for users who regularly need to alter just a few pages, rather than the whole site.
Content Demon, which has been developed with the help of one of ESL’s technology partners, Signpost, contains a definable security privilege system, which means that users can be provided with different levels of edit permissions depending on the content to which they have access.
Users can input rich formatted textual content and images, with spell checking and optimisation of images when uploading to the web site. These complex processes are managed through Content Demon’s simple interface, which is easy to learn and maintain.
Several web sites can use the same content at the same time, and they can consist of structured or unstructured data. Users can manage their own administration and configuration within Content Demon.
Content Demon offers a natural upgrade path to ESL’s standalone content management system, ContentMan. This powerful product is ideal for companies with a dynamic web site who want to update their content through the Internet. ContentMan provides workflow functionality and allows users to track content with full audit trails, procedures and version control.
Russ Cole, Managing Director of ESL, said: “There is an increasing demand for web sites to be hosted whilst still allowing the content to be controlled by the customer. Content Demon is a straightforward response to this demand. It is cost effective, simple to implement, and we expect it to be a very popular service.”
ESL and Signpost charge an initial set up fee to transfer existing web sites to Content Demon if required. Hosting costs £50 per page of Content Demon-ready web site per month.
